National Libraries Day on Saturday 9th February 2013

National Libraries Day is about celebrating the value and importance of all types of libraries and library staff. In Kensal Rise we are marking the day by displaying re-designed vintage posters to draw attention to the closure of libraries throughout England as well as in our community and greater Brent.

BREAKING: The Friends of Kensal Rise Library have just been advised that All Souls College Oxford claims that the Community Listing of Kensal Rise Library is invalid because they have already completed the sale of the building to Platinum Revolver Limited. Will they be able to convince Brent Council that a sale was pushed through even after notification of the community’s interest in the listing? See the full update at: www.savekensalriselibrary.org

Whatever happens, we are hopeful that a community library will remain in the building. In the meanwhile, please show your support for Kensal Rise Library by putting up this poster in your front window, and don’t forget to drop by the Pop-Up and borrow a book!

Many thanks to Daniels Estate Agents for kindly printing these posters, and to Phil Bradley for allowing library campaigns to use his lovely vintage poster designs.
